Last week was really interesting for our Android team. We hosted the second meeting of Poznan Android Developer Group and participated in DevFest in Krakow.
PADG is a new initiative of Android developers in Poznan that aims to share knowledge and experience. There are usually 3 presentations divided with networking breaks. On 6th of November we hosted second meeting and one of us – Bartek was talking about iBeacons and Estimotes. We are glad that we could show our experience of working with beacons. Michal Moczulski presented Realm database – an alternative for pure SQLite and ORM libraries. Simple API helps storing and accessing data and queries are really concise. The final presentation was about Toolbar animation by Piotr Krystyniak. It’s part of new Material Design so it is a very hot topic. In his presentation Piotr showed us how to implement Toolbar animation on pre-Lolipop devices. We are happy that participants were interested in presented topics and were integrating well on networking sessions. We are looking forward to next meeting :)
GDG DevFest Conference is event for Android and Web developers to show newest technologies and useful tips & tricks. We headed long way to Krakow on 8th on November to learn something new and have some fun. We solved practical test with errors in Robolectric to win Moto 360, but luck wasn’t on our side that day. There were really interesting talks about new APIs, libraries and design. Our foremost attention drew presentations about Wearable Connectivity Architectures by Ostap Andrusiv from GDG Lviv and Getting your app ready for Lollipop by Google Developer Expert Wojciech Kalicinski.
It was a great week :) Now we’re going to just open Android Studio and start working on new features in our apps :)
