Inside the Snowdog Academy: Insights and Reflections from Senior Project Manager, Paulina Woś
To shed light on the Snowdog Academy experience, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Paulina Woś, a former attendee who now serves as our esteemed Senior Project Manager. Join us as we delve into her insights and reflections on the academy's impact.
Let’s start with your motivations — why did you want to join Snowdog Academy in the first place?
PW: I was just starting out my career and wanted to become a Frontend Developer. I joined Snowdog Academy because it offered a quick and accessible way to get started and learn some necessary skills.
How did the course go for you?
PW: Well, to be honest, I had quite a hard time with frontend and backend tasks. It turned out it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. What I really enjoyed was the last part of the course — the project simulation. It felt really good to manage processes and outline tasks.
How did you end up in Snowdog?
PW: Kuba, our CEO, noticed me. I didn’t qualify for a frontend development internship, but instead, he offered me an eCommerce Management one. After that, it all rolled forward and here I am!
What ultimately led me to stay at Snowdog was the vibe. I liked it straight away, and I still do as a matter of fact. It’s friendly, but in a genuine, not forced way. Most of all, I appreciate the freedom and independence working here gives. I feel like I’m given plenty of space to move around when it comes to what I want to do with me and my team, which is really important to me.
What do you do now?
PW: Right now, I’m a Senior Project Manager leading a team of 8 Software Developers. I facilitate their work, prepare processes and their tasks. I’m 24, but I’ve held a senior position for a year now. Even before that, as a Project Manager, I handled our biggest client. I really appreciate the trust put into me, as well as all the opportunities for growth I’ve been given. I am not afraid of responsibility and I feel like Snowdog is the right place for me to be at.
Right now, I am working on further improving the flow of my team’s processes and overall organization using the Kanban method.
What did you enjoy most about the Academy?
PW: A lack of a narrow approach and a very open mind. It was one of the reasons I was noticed by Kuba and offered me an opportunity, even though I didn’t do well in a huge part of the course. I like how even though it was designed to train future coders, Snowdog ended up with a new Project Manager!
Finally, what does the future hold for you?
PW: I’d like to extend the implementation of the Kanban method.
I’d also like to focus on improving our internal processes related to Project Management.
Lastly, I’m preparing for a Magento Solution Specialist certificate and hope to gain it shortly.
