Getting started with testing during work is challenging. Despite best intentions, often the pressure to deliver projects keeps us from investing the time to get efficient enough to use it on a day to day basis.
In order to not be overwhelmed by all the different ways to automate testing, choosing one discipline to start with is a good way forward.
Integration testing is a good choice to start with since it allows us to practice it with existing, untested code, and it provides a lot of value.
Vinai Kopp – Instructor for the official Magento U developer trainings by Magento, and a member of the Magento Certification Advisory Board, also conference speaker. One of the first to pass the MCD+ exam. More at vinaikopp.com
In this training we will explore the Magento 2 integration testing framework and practice writing tests for many common scenarios.
We will discuss how to keep writing tests after the training is over and how to convince clients and managers of the value tests provide.
The training will give insight into good testing practices and patterns.
The focus of the training is on hands-on exercises. This requires every participant to bring their own working environment including
– Magento 2 (latest stable version CE or EE)
– PHP 7 executable from the command line
– Editor or IDE of choice (PHPStorm with the magento2 plugin is recommended)
Please use a local bare metal or vagrant or docker based installation, not a remote one that requires internet connectivity.
